Most current services store data on company servers. Web3 aims to move records onto blockchains jointly verified by participants through consensus, reducing control by a single party.

Tokens: Digital assets issued on a blockchain, used for payments, voting, service access, and other purposes.
Gas fees: Fees for processing transactions. High gas costs can make small transactions impractical.
Exchanges: Tokens trade on centralized or decentralized exchanges, each with advantages and drawbacks.

Ambitious Promises and Reality

Web3 attracts exaggeration alongside legitimate expectations. Beginners should understand:

Full decentralization is rare. Many projects are effectively run by a small team or depend on particular exchanges.
Actions are irreversible. Incorrect transfers and lost private keys usually cannot be recovered.
Scams are common. Learn how to avoid scams before engaging with unfamiliar tokens or sites.
Prices are volatile. Tokens can rise and fall sharply, and nobody knows their future price.

Claims of quick returns or guaranteed profit should almost always prompt caution. Web3 has technical potential, but remains an immature and risky field at an early stage.
