Using DEX Screener: Pairs, Liquidity and Scam Checks | NOONOO TRADING
DEX Screener shows token pairs, liquidity and trading volume on decentralized exchanges in real time. This article explains the displayed numbers and how beginners can screen for fake tokens and honeypots. It is not an investment recommendation; decisions and responsibility remain your own.
What is DEX Screener?
DEX Screener is a monitoring tool that compares tokens on DeFi exchanges such as Uniswap and PancakeSwap in one place. Tables show price, changes over different periods, volume, liquidity and transaction counts, helping users identify active markets quickly.
A screener does not select “good tokens.” It simply displays on-chain data; interpretation belongs to the user. In a decentralized setting where anyone can create and list a token, fraudulent tokens also appear in the results.
Reading pairs, liquidity and volume
These are the first three metrics to examine.
| Metric | Meaning | What a beginner should check |
|---|---|---|
| Pair | The asset a token trades against, such as PEPE/WETH | Whether the counterpart is an established asset such as ETH or USDC |
| Liquidity | Funds deposited in the trading pool | Low liquidity means even small trades can move price sharply |
| Volume | Total value traded over a period | Whether it is unusually large relative to liquidity |
Compare liquidity and volume together. A pool with only thousands of dollars in liquidity but millions in daily volume may involve wash trading, where bots trade among themselves to create an appearance of activity.
Screening fake tokens and honeypots
A honeypot allows buying but prevents selling through its code. A rising chart can lure buyers whose funds become trapped when they cannot sell. The following checklist identifies warning signs.
- Liquidity lock: Unlocked liquidity may allow developers to remove the pool in a rug pull.
- Many buys but almost no sells: A typical honeypot warning sign.
- Unusually high selling fees: A 50% sell tax, for example, can effectively obstruct withdrawal.
- Very few holders or most supply held in one wallet.
- Impersonating pairs that copy a famous token's name or symbol.
Automated honeypot checks and security scores are references, not 100% guarantees. Learning scam prevention and on-chain analysis improves judgment. Always compare the token contract address directly with an official source.
Essential cautions for beginners
An upward chart never proves a token is safe. Screener figures record the current state; they do not predict the future. New or illiquid tokens carry substantial volatility and fraud risks, including loss of the entire investment.
