Crypto Deposits Not Arriving: Causes and a Checklist | NOONOO TRADING
A deposit that does not appear in your balance can be alarming. Fortunately, many cases come down to a few common causes and can be resolved through calm checks. Work through the checklist below.
Common reasons deposits fail to appear
Delayed or failed deposits generally involve sending settings, the receiving exchange's status or required procedures. The source lists these common causes in the following order.
| Cause | Symptom | Urgency |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong network | Transfer completed but deposit not credited | High |
| Missing tag or memo | A particular coin's deposit is missing | High |
| Exchange maintenance or wallet synchronization | Deposits disabled | Low |
| Limits or incomplete verification | Limit or restriction notice | Medium |
| Travel Rule requirements unmet | Sender and recipient details do not match | Medium |
Wrong networks and missing tags or memos
A coin may support several transfer networks. If the sending network differs from what the receiving exchange supports, the deposit may not be credited. USDT, for example, uses chains including ERC-20 and TRC-20; sending through an unsupported chain causes problems.
Some coins, including XRP and XLM, require a destination tag or memo in addition to the address. Omitting it may leave a deposit pending or in the exchange's shared wallet, requiring manual processing.
Maintenance, limits and the Travel Rule
- Maintenance and synchronization: Wallet maintenance or delayed confirmations during blockchain congestion can temporarily stop deposits. Check exchange notices and the deposit page's availability status.
- Limits and verification: A lower KYC level may restrict deposits or trading. Check account security and verification status.
- The Travel Rule: Korean rules require verified sender and recipient information above a specified transfer amount. Transfers from wallets not in your name or unsupported exchanges may be held or returned.
When a Korean-won deposit fails
Won deposits generally require a verified bank account in your own name. Check:
- Whether the sending bank account matches the verified account registered with the exchange.
- Whether bank maintenance, usually overnight, or daily or monthly limits apply.
- Whether anti-phishing deposit delays or new-account restrictions apply.
The Upbit guide and OKX signup guide cover exchange registration and verification procedures that can reduce initial setup problems.
Deposit troubleshooting checklist
- Use the TXID to confirm whether the blockchain transfer actually completed.
- Match the sending network with the receiving exchange's supported network.
- Check the tag or memo where required.
- Check maintenance notices, verification level and deposit limits.
- Check account-name and Travel Rule requirements.
- If the deposit is still missing, provide support with the TXID, time, network and amount.
Many deposit problems are configuration errors or temporary delays, and organized evidence helps support resolve them. Also see wallet types for secure custody.
